Brunello vote results final: no changes to appellation
Here are the results of today's vote at the Assembly of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino (the number of votes are based on the number of hectares planted to vine and the number of bottles produced and quantity of wine produced of each winery member of the Consortium. Proposition 3: are you in favor of making other changes to the appellation rules? For example, changing the maximum yields for Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino, Moscadello, and Sant'Antimo? Or allowing for the use of concentrated rectified must?
474 NO
228 YES
Proposition 4: are you in favor of grouping all the current appellations, except for Sant'Antimo, in a single Montalcino appellation?

Proposition 5: are you in favor of grouping all the current appellations, except for Brunello di Montalcino, in a single Montalcino appellation?

I second Jeremy's comment! I would have been surprised if the vote was different, but after all that has gone on over the past few months, I am relieved to see the results.
Let's continue making Brunello the great wine that it truly is -especially in a traditional style.

i am thrilled at the results, as well as pleasantly surprised by the amount of opposition to the modernization.

Excellent news! Many thanks for the coverage, Alessandro.
It would seem that some of the alleged offenders opted to save face by closing ranks with the pledged majority opposing proposition 1.
It is absurd that the idea of Brunello as a blend would be given any serious consideration in the first place.

Hello, I am new to this blog, but at first glance it looks fantastic! I am also searching for a place to purchase Il Poggione Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I picked some up in Montalcino some time ago but I have upcoming visits planned. I live in San Diego and can order online. So far, I can't seem to find a US seller. Any help will be appreciated.
