Hail Storm Report from Montalcino

I’m posting today a written communication by the owner of Tenuta Il Poggione, Leopoldo Franceschi, answering the blog Vino al Vino by Franco Ziliani and as a clarification to our customers regarding the hail on August 15, 2008.

Unlike Dr. Ziliani, on August 15th, I, the undersigned Leopoldo Franceschi, owner of Tenuta Il Poggione, was on holiday. As soon as I knew about the hail, I immediately came back to Italy to do a personal evaluation together with my Director and the insurance surveyors. So, only now I am in possession of true information that otherwise I could have not declared or post on the blog Montalcino Report, considering my honesty towards everybody and especially towards our customers. Our damage is 35% altogether in our vineyards: of course, depending on the upcoming weather conditions, this could increase or decrease.

With this I wanted to reply to our friend Ziliani and to all of our customers.
